Ben Perry is a conservative Republican..
A long-time resident of Woodway, Texas. Ben began life
in Waco in 1981 on an athletic scholarship to Baylor University where he was a three-year
letterman under legendary Baylor Coach Grant Teaff.
After a brief stint as an insurance producer, Ben fulfilled
a goal to enter a life in law enforcement. In 1987, Ben joined forces with the Woodway
Police Department where he worked as a patrolman and firefighter until 1995 when
he joined with Waco Police Department as a patrolman and detective.
Since 2000, Ben has gained valuable business experience
as a property/casualty producer and contract bond specialist for Sunbelt/Higginbotham
Insurance Agency. In addition to his insurance experience, Ben is also co-owner
of a Shipley's Donut franchise and has served on several local boards including
The ARC of McLennan County, The Family Abuse Shelter, and Midway Little League Board.
He is also the 2003 recipient of the Generation 2000 Award from the Huntington Disease
Society.
Ben understands the daily pursuits of local families trying
to make it in tough economic times. His wife of 20 years, Kariann, and two daughters,
Kaydi and Jill, inspire Ben to strive for excellence at his many endeavors and motivate
him to work hard to bring the best resources together to help reduce the tax-payer
burden of local home-owners and families. Ben hopes that his role as County Commissioner
will lead to a reduced and streamlined county budget reflected by lower property
tax rates while keeping Central Texas dollars in Central Texas by working with local
contractors on county projects.
Ben's experience in law enforcement and business, along
with the support of his family, provide him the tools necessary to begin work on
achieving his goals.
