Program Description

This program is 36 hours in length in addition to an assessment (intake) and orientation.  The assessment (intake) and orientation, group sessions and curriculum focus on ending violence, holding batterers accountable for their violence, abusive behaviors and keeping victims safe.  The McLennan County CSCD BIPP currently holds Probationary Accreditation through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice –Community Justice Assistance Division (TDCJ-CJAD).

Eligibility

This class is open to the public but generally includes participants who have been placed on probation and court ordered to the program. However, this class may also be used as a sanction appropriate to offenders with any history of battering.  Currently, the program is only set up as a men’s group for male participants only.

Referral Process

The McLennan County CSCD charges $450 for this class. In order to qualify for enrollment, a participant must pay a minimum of $225 towards that amount; however, the full amount must be paid before the thirteenth (13th) class session in order to complete the program. Once eligible for enrollment, the participant must complete an enrollment packet which includes a Personal Data Form.

This packet is available at the reception desk. Due to parameters of class size, the participant will be advised that he will receive a referral sheet in the mail which stipulates the date and time of the next scheduled intake/orientation session. Thereafter, the facilitator will provide a complete schedule of sessions to the participant. For this program there are twenty four (24) sessions from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (Monday thru  Thursday) or 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. (Tuesdays only) a as well as intake (assessment and orientation) and two (2) individual sessions. In order to complete the program, a participant must complete all of the program requirements.

The participant will still be required to complete the entire 36 program hours.  Any second (2nd) consecutive or a total of three (3) absences will result in the participant being dropped from class; after which, the participant will be required to pay a $100 re-enrollment fee (unless waived by the program administrator) before he can be re-registered for the next available class.  A Certificate of Program Completion shall be issued upon successful completion.
