    Heather Travers

    Director

    Hello, I am Heather Travers, the McLennan County Health Services Director.  I have been with the county since 2020, before that managed a specialized mental health program with the local mental health authority and offered counseling in a private practice setting as an LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor. 

     Some of my other community affiliations include the United Way of Waco-McLennan County, the Waco-McLennan County Health District Advisory Board, Prosper Waco’s Access to Healthcare (A2HC) and the Heart of Texas Council of Governments (HOTCOG) Regional Transportation Coordination Council. 

     At McLennan County Health Services, we offer the County Indigent Health Care Program (CIHCP), Expanded Case Management program, the Pauper Cremation program and manage the medical claims for both the CIHCP and McLennan County and Jack Harwell Jails. 

     Serving the needs of our community is important to us and we work hard to detect and reduce barriers to access care.  You will find our office is friendly and welcoming with staff eager to help!  

    In my free time, I cherish time with family.  I enjoy hosting dinner, book club and family holidays!  You might also find me reading, sewing or working in my yard!

    Hello, my name is Marisa Coronado, Lead Eligibility Specialist for the McLennan County Indigent Health Care Program. I began my tenure with McLennan County in July 2002. I started as front desk receptionist and have worked, learned, and grown into my current position. I truly enjoy every aspect of my job and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve our McLennan County residents.

    Office Coordinator

    Hi there! My name is Kari Davis. I am the Office Coordinator for the McLennan County Indigent Health Care Program. I started working here in August 2019 and have over 20 years’ experience in healthcare administration. Some of my current duties are managing social media, special events coordinator, providing support for the IHC Program,  Pauper Program, and Director. When I am not at work I love spending time with my family, reading books, and taking pictures.

    Hello, my name is John Paul (JP) and I started working for the McLennan County Indigent Health Care Program in May 2020. I came over from previously being employed with the State of Texas for 8 years, where I had several roles such as Medical Eligibility Specialist, Ombudsman, and Nursing Home Surveyor. The best part about my job is being able to work as a team/family with co-workers, and providing a much-needed service to the community. Hobbies include: Golf, Poker, Dominoes, Family, and playing with my dog, Baxter.

    Hello, my name is Sherry Moore and I have been with the McLennan County Indigent Health Care Program for 25 years. I am the liaison for providers and client care for all aspects of claims management and medical billing. I ensure clients receive care needed and providers are reimbursed for services rendered as set out by state guidelines.

    Hello my name is Sandra Marinez and I started working for McLennan County Indigent Health Care Program in May of 2005. I started as a receptionist, then intake worker and I process jail claims. I have started my 19th year here and I love my job, the environment, and all of my co-workers. I also love working as a team and helping out my community. But most of all, I love being a Nana to by beautiful grandchildren. In my free time I enjoy dancing, movies, and spending quality time with my family.

    Alex Gonzales

    Eligibility Specialist- Pauper Program

    Hi! My name is, ‘Alexandra Gonzales’ but everyone just calls me, ‘Alex’! I’m the newest member of the CIHCP Team with a start date of December 5, 2022. My background includes work with The State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission as a Texas Works Advisor II processing SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF programs. I also bring with me 5 years of experience completing and submitting Social Security Disability applications and TX OAG Crime Victims Compensation applications. I am a native Wacoan — born and raised here, educated here, and excited to have returned home to serve the residents of McLennan County. In any spare time I might have I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, attending Dallas Mavericks games, and visiting with friends and family.
