Making Payments

Requirements

To make payments of child support either with the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) or with the McLennan County District Clerk’s Office, an account must be established after a written order is entered by the court. A form must be filled out to establish the account. The form and a copy of your order must be presented to the McLennan County Child Support Office.

Definitions

The person making the payments is the payor or obligor. The person receiving the payments is the payee or obligee.

Establish an Account

Regardless of whether child support is paid directly by the payor or through the payor’s employer you must establish an account with the SDU. Incorrect information, lack of paper work, or misdirected payments all contribute to a delay in child support. This office does not prepare orders for the judges to sign. To establish a child support account for the SDU you must furnish this office the following information:
  • Full name of payor
  • Full name of payee
  • Full names of all children affected by the order
  • Social security numbers for all children, payee, and payor
  • Address for payee and payor
  • Dates of birth for all children affected by the order

Payment Options

All payments must have your cause number listed or account number.  If a cause number or account number is not provided, it will only delay the payment from being processed, or the payment may be returned to you for additional information.
