Registry Funds

Deposit Authorization Order
In order to deposit funds in the registry of the Court a party must present an order of the Court authorizing the deposit. If the money is to be deposited in an interest bearing account, the order must specify that it is to be deposited in an interest bearing account.

Interest Rates
In order to obtain the best interest rates, the order should provide that the funds may be deposited in any bank with FDIC insurance or in any account authorized by §142.004(a) of the Texas Property Code. The County's depository bank usually does not have the highest interest rate. The party must present a copy of the social security card or tax identification form for the person or entity in whose name the funds are to be deposited. This is a requirement under §117.003 Texas Local Government Code and the banking institutions where funds are deposited.
